The Sorensdale Recreation Center, a former elementary school, was originally constructed in 1954, and required accessibility upgrades, renovation and modernization of spaces. G/A had previously completed the renovation of the kitchen, service entrance, and north hallway restrooms, so, essentially this is phase three of the center’s renovation. Sorensdale is HARD’s community and recreation center for the disabled, and all of its renovated training and activity spaces are mandated to be fully accessible.
For this phase, G/A was asked by HARD to renovate the floor, wall and ceiling finishes of the multipurpose room that adjoins the kitchen. Additionally, the site’s south hallway restrooms were renovated and upgraded to ADA standards. The stage was improved for access, and HVAC was upgraded in the office area.
