Roosevelt Middle School

Roosevelt Middle School Renovation

This 121,000 square foot unreinforced masonry building was constructed in 1930 and designed by the architect Timothy Pflueger. The structure had previously been reinforced to meet modern earthquake standards, but many building systems had languished and much of the facility was deteriorating, non-accessible, and energy was being wasted through windows and deficient insulation. G/A repaired damaged and worn portions of the building, replaced windows with an improved system, upgraded mechanical and electrical systems, and improved accessibility, all without altering the historic integrity of the building. GA provided programming, design, and construction administration as prime consultant to the San Francisco Unified School District.
